Electric mobility maintenance

Rules for electric transport at Riedis-electric.com

2024-03-25

Proper maintenance of an electric bicycle, electric scooter, unicycle, tricycle, quadricycle or any other electric vehicle purchased from UAB LUTEX (Riedis-electric.com) is easy and helps to reduce the cost of future repairs. If you do not take care of the mechanical part of your electric vehicle, you risk damaging it in such a way that it may cost a lot to restore it to its original condition. When you buy a new electric vehicle, it is advisable to have an initial technical inspection at Riedis.lt after the first 200-300 km - this will include a check of the connecting parts, steering and folding points, adjustments to the gears, brakes, wheel reinforcements and a check of the overall condition of the vehicle.

To ensure a long service life for your electric vehicle, it is recommended to follow a maintenance plan that includes daily, weekly and annual or monthly maintenance.

Use of the vehicle

The transport must be used for its intended purpose. For example, road or urban transport should not be used on gravel roads, forest tracks or off-road. In most cases, the vehicles we sell are not used for sporting purposes.

Correct operation of electric transport

- Electric vehicles are intended for use only on dedicated roads and paths;

- Electric transport is normally designed to carry only one person, unless otherwise adapted and equipped with dedicated seating;

- Before using electric transport, be sure to read and understand the road traffic rules in your country;

- Electric transport can only be charged using the original charger;

- Electric transport is intended for personal use only and not for commercial purposes, which may invalidate the warranty;

- Wear a helmet even if not required by law;

- Only operate an electric bicycle or scooter with the lights on, regardless of the time of day.

Attention! Unregistered E-vehicles (micro-mobility) are designed to travel at speeds of up to 25km/h ONLY (If you exceed this speed, you are responsible for your actions and assume the risks and dangers associated with them. The manufacturer and distributors cannot be held liable for possible accidents or damages directly or indirectly related to the incorrect or illegal use of this product or non-compliance with the Riedis.lt transport manual.

IMPORTANT!

- Do not use the El. TRANSPORTATION UNDER HUMID CONDITIONS (rain, wet, muddy surfaces. Moisture damage to the e-transport is not covered by the warranty);

- The electric bicycle or scooter is not suitable for carrying luggage or children;

- Electric micro-mobility transport is not designed for jumping, stunts, one-wheel driving, obstacle courses, jumping off curbs or other ramps, roller coasters. Always avoid potholes, quicksand, curbs and other obstacles;

- Do not pull the battery overnight or leave it unattended;

- If signs of combustion are visible or perceptible - smoke coming from the battery, battery heating - immediately move the electric vehicle out of the enclosed space and into the open;

- Avoid short-circuiting the battery by turning the key to the disconnect position before folding the bicycle;

- Disconnect the charger and the power supply to the transport before carrying out any repairs to the device. Electric shock can cause serious injury.

Do not operate the e-transport or stop immediately if:

- The motor of the e-vehicle becomes unusually hot, makes noises, or rotates erratically,

- You see an error sign on the display of the electric vehicle,

- The electric vehicle makes unusual noises,

- The vehicle is not in good working order,

- Smoke, sparks, or unusual smell coming from the vehicle, etc.

In all these cases, please contact your dealer as soon as possible.

Storage of the vehicle

The vehicle should be stored in a dry, warm place to prevent damage to its parts. Do not store the vehicle in the rain, or park it in dirty, wet or salty conditions after the winter season, as this can damage the electronics, battery, frame and other parts.

Daily check-up

A few simple but important checks are essential before every ride:

- Tyres: Make sure the tyre pressure is in line with the manufacturer's requirements. The pressure is indicated on the tyres (BAR or PSI).

- Steering wheel: Check that the steering wheel is straight, at the correct height and firmly attached.

- Saddle: Ensure that the saddle (if any) is straight, of the correct height and well secured.

- Brakes: Check the effectiveness of the brakes by pushing the transport forward and pressing the brake lever.

- Gears: Lift the rear wheel and shift gears by hand using the pedals (if present). If the gears do not work properly, contact a workshop.

- Bolts, fasteners: Check that all bolts are properly tightened and that parts, wheels, chassis parts, gear system parts do not move.

- Folding mechanism: If the electric vehicle is foldable, check that all the fuses for this purpose are closed before driving.

Weekly inspection

After a week of driving, it is recommended to clean the vehicle, remove rust and carry out the following checks:

- Wheels: Check that the spokes (if any) are not broken and that the wheel is straight and the nuts are tight.

- Brakes: The brake pads must be pressing against the rim or brake disc with their entire surface. If the pads do not apply enough pressure, the brakes must be adjusted. If the pads make a noise or have foreign objects in them, please contact our workshop.

- Tyres: Check your tyres for any trapped foreign objects or damage, cracks or other damage.

- Struts, shock absorbers: Check that the struts and shock absorbers are properly fitted.

- Inspection of the drive wheel axle: check axle position - no shifting/rotation, check looseness of fixing nuts - no loosening, visual inspection of motor cable. If you find any problems, please contact our workshop.

- General check: Make sure all screws are tightened and moving parts move freely. Lubricate the moving parts with bicycle or special parts grease.

- Electronics: Check the display for error messages and that the battery is fully charged and discharged on time.

Annual/monthly technical inspection

If the vehicle is used all year round, it should be serviced two to three times a year. If the vehicle is not used exclusively in the warm season, it is recommended to carry out the maintenance twice a season. The first inspection should be carried out after 200-300 km and should also be carried out at our workshop.

Washing/cleaning

It is forbidden to wash the electric vehicle with water, with a water hose or under a strong jet of water. Cleaning with chemical solvents or other corrosive substances is strictly prohibited!  Clean electric vehicles with wet wipes, air compressor, foam cleaner and a damp cloth.

We recommend a general cleaning at least once a month or after 200-300 km.  More often if the weather is wet.

1. Clean dry vehicles with a brush or cloth. If it is wet, clean it with a special detergent.

2. Do not forget to wipe hard-to-reach areas.

3. Dry the transport and lubricate the chain, connecting and moving parts.
